As part of our preparation for the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in May 2018, we have reviewed the “3 from 7” personal data used to authenticate subscribers in e-filed company incorporations, and also in the Deed Certification Statement section of mortgage charge submissions. We have decided that we will remove “eye colour” from our authentication options due to the fact that, under the GDPR, biometric data is categorised as ‘special category’ data and therefore subject to stricter controls. We plan to remove this category by 25th May 2018.
