Companies House / HMRC Joint Registration Service Update

HMRC (who are solely responsible for developing and providing the software APIs for the Corporation Tax, PAYE and VAT elements) are still researching the need for a CT API at the time of writing, and are in the process of contacting a number of agents and software developers for their views on same. As such, it is unlikely that anything will be available in September, as previously thought. I will update you on this as soon as I have more definite news.

You will recall however that it has been possible (for those wishing to offer this to their clients at the earliest opportunity) to provide corporation tax information as part of the existing Companies House XML incorporation submission since 2012. In this case, the corporation tax information is delivered to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) as soon as the incorporation is accepted by Companies House.

For those wishing to develop this now…………….

Data that conforms to the corporation tax information schema must be inserted into the element within the of the associated incorporation.

Only companies limited by shares i.e. where the element is set to ‘BYSHR’ can provide corporation tax information.
