Update on the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Bill

On 4 July, the Bill completed its third reading in the House of Lords. The next stage is known as ping-pong, which is where the amended Bill goes back to the House of Commons to consider Lords’ amendments.

Ping-pong is likely to start in September when Parliament sits again after the summer recess, with Royal Assent sometime after. Royal Assent is when the Bill becomes an Act, and becomes law. We’ll share an implementation timetable with you after Royal Assent. We’ll let you know about any changes well in advance so that you’ve got time to prepare.

Meanwhile, our preparation work continues at pace. Thank you to everyone who’s taken part in our research and user testing. Your feedback will help shape our new services to make sure they meet your needs.
